Later published under the title "Man and the Universe", this is one of many works by Sir Oliver Joseph Lodge (1851 – 1940), the British physicist and psychical researcher. In this volume Lodge addresses the interaction and friction between science and theology. Contents include: The Outstanding Controversy Between Science and Faith; Religion, Science and Miracle; Corporate Worship and Service; The Immortality of the Soul; Science and Christianity; and much more. Overall an internally clean and solid copy: light damp-mark to lower half of boards and text block (along with remnants of faint mark on corresponding pages); light warp and stiffness to lower half of text pages - otherwise just light rubbing to extremities; endpapers cracked at inner hinges but with neat glue repair so hinges remain solid; paper lightly browned but unmarked.
