Very scarce first edition from 1914, limited to 300 copies. By Hermann Gollancz. Hardcover, Large quarto, xx + [158]pp. Original deep maroon cloth with gilt titling to spine and black titling front covers. Errata slip. The bulk of the book is taken up with a photographic facsimile of an original Hebrew manuscript, of the Clavicula Salomonis, complete with numerous seals, talismans, incantations, conjurations, etc. The author provide the first known translation of this ancient Hebrew text on magic and invocation of angels and other heavenly spirits. It is prefaced by a 20-page English-language introduction discussing the text. Slight shelfwear; bumping to covers/corners (please see photos). Top of spine slightly chipped/peeling. Binding is solid. Internally fresh, with clean pages save for tiny script of former owner on first blank page.
