Ringgold was a celebrated American painter, author, mixed media sculptor, performance artist, and intersectional activist, perhaps best known for her narrative quilts. In the book, Ringgold relates the story of young Melody, who visits her Aunt Connie and Uncle Bate's big house on the beach. Aunt Connie, an artist, has several surprises for the family - including that she and Uncle Bates have adopted a son, Lonnie, whose green eyes and red hair instantly captivate Melody. In very good condition, with minor shelf wear only. Interior is clean and free of markings, save Ringgold's signature.
