SCARCE, SIGNED Copy of EUDORA WELTY's "THE SHOE BIRD" — Stated 1st Edition / 1st Printing, 1964 HC/DJ — Scarce Signed Children's Book by the Author — Southern Children's Literature
Publisher: Harcourt, Brace and World, Inc., New York (1964)
The book is in exceedingly well preserved condition, with very slight fading of color to the bottom back board corner; otherwise minimal wear. The pages are crisp and clean, and free of interior markings. Inscribed by author on the first blank page. The dust jacket has some minor light shelfwear along the top fore-edge. It remains uncut, with the original price still present. Eudora Welty's signature and note on the first blank page. This book came from the Atlanta estate along with several other signed Eudora Welty books, presented to a prominent Jackson, Mississippi resident. (Please see our other listings.) THE SHOE bird is a fanciful story of a parrot in a shoe store, as he talks to other birds about shoes. Illustrated by Beth Krush. Eudora Welty wrote only one children's book — here is a very scarce signed, first edition, first printing copy in exceedingly well preserved condition for your collection.
