Children's book signed by author Sant Ram Mandal to cover page, and illustrated by well-known children's author and illustrator Dorothy P. Lathrop, who also edited this English printing from the original Hindi volume. This book tells the story of a holy man in India and his relationship to the nearby animals - a "lovely tale of an Indian St. Francis" that offers "a vision of a future when men and beasts shall live together in peace". Contains many black and white illustrations of flora and fauna, with full-color dust jacket included. In very good condition, with firm binding; interior is clean and free of markings, save author's signature and previous owner's inscription (of how she met the author); jacket shows normal aging and wear, with chipping at edges and corners.
