The History of Georgia by Clark Howell first edition, first printing from 1926. Volumes 1-4. WELL OVER 1000 FULL-PAGE ENGRAVINGS AND LITHOGRAPHS, SOME WITH SIGNATURES of Georgia historical figures. Pages per each volumes 1-4: 728; 679; 679; 685. Comprehensive and richly illustrated history of the US state from 1732-1926. Volume I includes the historical narratives. Volumes II, III, IV contain biographies of important historical figures and personalities. Attractive dark green cloth binding with gilt titles on spines. Light green and gold end papers present for each engraving. Marbelized front and end papers, and fore-edges. No previous owner's names or marks, and pages are white, with no soiling or foxing. A very handsome, and very clean full first-edition set.  

About the Author

Published originally in 1926, this is a great set of books written by a politician who began as an writer at his father's "Atlanta Constitution" alongside Henry Grady and Joel Chandler Harris. He was later editor and owner of the paper as well, and won a Pulitzer Prize.
