THE KABBALAH UNVEILED by S.L. MacGregor Mathers ~ 1st Edition / 8th Printing, 1957 ~ Kabbalah Golden Dawn

Publisher: Kegan Paul, Trench, Turner & Co. London (1957)

Scarce copy of "The Kabbalah Unveiled" by S.L. Mac Gregor Mathers in excellent condition. First edition, eighth printing from 1957. The boards and binding are solid and tight save for very light shelf-wear. The pages are crisp and clean, and free of interior markings. 360 pages, with illustrations and fold-out charts. "The Kabbalah Unveiled" explores three important books of the Zohar or "Splendor": "The Book of Concealed Mystery," the book of equilibrium or balance, concerning the central point, at which rest succeeds motion; "The Greater Holy Assembly"; and "The Lesser Holy Assembly." Together, these three books examine the gradual development of the creative deity, and of creation itself. Author S.L. MacGregor Mathers, a founder of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, presents his exegesis in a clear and scholarly style. Three fold-out charts enhance this volume's value as a tool for understanding the Kabbalah and enjoying the benefits of its teachings.

S.L. MacGregor Mathers (1854-1918) was a prominent scholar and leader of the occult movement in Great Britain at the turn of the century. A lifelong fascination with mysticism and Celtic symbolism led Mathers to hold high office in the Rosicrucian Society of England, and eventually to become a founder of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. He is also well known for having been a key tutor to Aleister Crowley.
