In overall very good condition: solid and tight boards and binding, with minimal shelfwear. Pages are crisp, clean and free of interior markings save previous owner's name on the first blank page. The original, very scarce dust jacket is also in exceedingly well preserved condition with minimal shelfwear, and is protected by a Mylar plastic jacket. Appears to have been price cut, but there is an original price on the rear jacket panel as well. It features a striking Art Deco illustration of the title character, one breast exposed, in black and white highlighted in yellow. The work is a fictional biography of Justinian's Empress Theodora, who rose from life as a courtesan to be the consort to one of the greatest rulers on earth.
